The Centro Cultural São Lourenço opened in March 1981. Situated near the beautiful chapel of São Lourenço, it occupies a row of two hundred years old rural houses, carefully restored in the authentic Algarvian style of the time.

The interior of the little Church of São Lourenço on the outskirts of Almancil is covered with fascinating blue-coloured azulejo glazed tiles depicting the life of the saint, dated 1730 and signed by Policarpo de Oliveira Bernardes.
